SOLID Engineering achieves record in capacity to respond in an urgent order from Alstom company. SOLID Group has designed, validated, built and certified some tools for lifting rail in only five weeks.

At the end of July, Alstom, a worldwide company dedicated to the manufacturing of trains, commissioned urgently some tools for lifting rail to SOLID Engineering urgently. The order had to travel to Chile, where President Sebastian Pinera had scheduled an opening where infrastructures were needed.

The final delivery date was 5th of September. SOLID Engineering had to designed, validated, built and certified large tooling in record time. In addition, the project should be made on August, a month in which there are fewer active employees usually because the vast majority of them are on holidays.

Solid’s employers were busy doing calculations, redesign and make plans on last days of July. In August they began the manufacture of the tooling making. SOLID Engineering workshop in Barcelona was at full steam those days.

It was a period of heavy workload. There was no time to contingency or displacements. In fact, welding certification, made by Applus, had to be performed in the SOLID Engineering workshop in Barcelona.

The excellent capacity to respond by SOLID Engineering made possible to complete the order in record time. The whole process (design, validate, build and certify) was carried out in only five weeks.

Once the order was finished, the enormous tools were transported by train from Barcelona to Bilbao, and from Bilbao to Chile by boat.
